How to sell paid Discord roles without the bot failing the grant

Selling a paid Discord role is how a lot of servers charge for a VIP channel, a supporter color, or a coaching room. The buyer pays. The role appears on their account. The channel they could not see is suddenly there.

The grant fails for a boring reason. Discord will not let a bot assign a role that is higher than the bot's own role. You can have Administrator on your personal account and still watch the bot shrug, because the Cartcord role is sitting under VIP in the list.

Set the role up so the perk is the role

Create the role you are selling, or pick one you already use. Put the channel permissions on that role: who can see #vip, who can talk, who can connect to the voice channel. If the perk is "I will manually add you later," you do not have a role product. You have a manual product with extra steps.

Drag the Cartcord role above every role you sell. Save. This is Server Settings, Roles, the same list you already use. The bot also needs Manage Roles. If you invited it with the permissions it asks for, that is included. If someone later stripped the bot role, put Manage Roles back.

In the dashboard, make a product, set delivery to Discord Role, and choose that role. Price it in USD. Publish it.

Buy it once from another account before you tell the server. You want the role on that account within a few seconds of PayPal, and you want the private channel to open. If it does not, check the order. The delivery note will say whether the buyer is not in the server, the role was deleted, or Discord refused the change. "Refused" is almost always the role order.

What the buyer feels

They use /store or the public store link, pay on PayPal, and get a DM that the role was granted. If they are not in the server, the role cannot be applied. The order stays pending and tells you to have them join, then press Re-send.

Closed DMs do not cancel the role grant by themselves. The role call is separate from the receipt DM. Still tell people to open DMs, because the receipt is how they find the order id later.

Limits you should say out loud

These role products are one-time. There is no "remove this role when the month ends" switch. If you sell a 30-day pass, you are the person who removes the role on day 31, or you sell it as a permanent role and price it that way. Do not write "monthly" on a one-time product.

The merchant issues refunds in PayPal. Cartcord records verified completed provider refunds, preserves access for partial amounts and closes new delivery access after cumulative full refunds. Eligible saved Cartcord role grants are queued for removal, but the new worker is still rolling out; check completion with support. Pre-existing or overlapping valid grants are protected. Already downloaded copies and external URLs cannot be recalled.

The bot only assigns the role you picked on that product. It does not rearrange the rest of your staff roles.

Price and plan

Role delivery is available on Free as well as paid plans. The cap you hit is products and monthly orders, same as any other product. A single VIP role plus two file products is a normal Free test. A server selling several tiers and doing real volume wants Basic or Pro so the order cap is not the story of the launch.

When the role sale is the wrong product

If access is "I will add you by hand after I see the payment," use Manual delivery. A role product that points at a role the bot cannot assign just creates a paid order and a failure note.

If the perk expires, write the date in the description and put a reminder on your own calendar. Nothing in Cartcord removes the role on day 30. If you need that, you are describing a subscription we do not sell as an auto-expiring role.

If the buyer paid from an alt and wants the role on their main, the grant follows the Discord account that checked out. You can assign the role yourself in Discord for the main account, and you should say that in the product text so you are not doing it as a surprise favor every week.

Staff roles should not be for sale. The bot will grant whatever role you attach. Pick a role that only opens the channels you intend.

Recover an existing purchase

Buyers sign in with the original Discord account at cartcord.com/purchases, find the order and choose View delivery. This is private purchase recovery, including when DMs were blocked. Payment and delivery states are separate. New recovery/staff bot commands are rolling out, so use the web route if a command is not available.
