How to sell digital products on Discord without living in tickets

By Cartcord Team · Tutorial · 2026-10-20
You can sell digital products on Discord. The part that wears people out is not the product. It is the ticket that opens after every payment, the "did you get it" message, and the file you send by hand at midnight.
A digital product here means something the buyer can receive without you shipping a box: a zip, a PDF, a preset pack, a Notion template, a config, a course link. Cartcord sends the URL you configured. It does not upload the file to our servers.
The path that actually closes
Write the product the way a buyer scans it. Name, price in USD, one image, and two or three sentences on what they get and how it shows up. Long lore in the Discord embed gets cut. Put the real instructions on the product or in your store docs.
Set the delivery type to File or Link. File is for a download URL. Link is for a course, a Drive folder, or any page they should open after paying. If the link is the whole product, say so in the description so nobody expects a zip.
Connect your own PayPal before you announce anything. You can save products first. Checkout will fail until the Client ID and Secret are saved and the connection shows as live, not sandbox. Money goes from the buyer to your PayPal. Cartcord does not hold it and does not take a percent of the order.
Tell buyers to open DMs from server members before they pay. If Discord blocks the DM, we do not drop the link in the channel. The order stays pending and you re-send it from the order page once they turn DMs on.
Run one cheap purchase yourself. A $0.50 product that you buy and then delete teaches you more than another afternoon of settings. Check three things: PayPal shows the payment, the DM has the URL, and the order in the dashboard says completed.
Stock, caps, and the free plan
Leave stock unlimited if you are selling a file you can send forever. Set a number only when the thing is actually limited.
Free allows 3 active products and 3 completed orders in a month. Basic is $29.99 a month for 25 products and 100 orders. Pro is $59.99 for 150 products and 1,000 orders, and that is where coupons, store themes, and store docs turn on. Enterprise is $129.99 with no product or order cap. When you hit the order cap, checkout stops before PayPal charges the next person. That is on purpose.
Each Discord server has its own plan. Upgrading one server does not raise the cap on another.
What still needs a human
Custom work, commissions, and "I will set this up for you" should be Manual delivery. The buyer gets a receipt. You get the order. You do the work and talk to them in Discord. Do not pick File and paste a placeholder URL. They will open it and assume you scammed them.
Refunds are yours to issue in PayPal, because that is where the money landed. A missing DM is usually not a refund. Re-send the delivery first. If you do refund a role or a file, say so in the order notes so the next mod is not guessing.
Where buyers find it
Inside the server they type /store. Outside Discord they can open your public store page and pay there too. Same products, same PayPal, same DM. If your audience is not all in one server, the public page is the link you put in a bio.
The longer setup notes live on cartcord.com/docs. The product-type breakdown is on cartcord.com/guides/product-management.
Problems that show up in the first week
The link in the DM opens a login wall the buyer cannot pass. That is your host, not the bot. Open the URL in a private window before you sell it.
Two people say they paid and only one has a DM. Look at Orders. One of them probably closed DMs. Re-send that row. Do not send the file in #general while you wait.
Checkout says the store cannot take the order. You hit the monthly order cap. Free is 3 completed orders. The next person is stopped before PayPal charges them. Upgrade, or wait until the count resets on the 1st.
You want a discount for a launch. Coupons start on Pro. A percent code is entered on the website checkout. There is no /coupon command anymore.
Someone wants a refund after downloading. That policy is yours. The money is in your PayPal, so the refund is a PayPal refund. Cartcord does not have their card and cannot reverse it from our side.
Recover an existing purchase
Buyers sign in with the original Discord account at cartcord.com/purchases, find the order and choose View delivery. This is private purchase recovery, including when DMs were blocked. Payment and delivery states are separate. New recovery/staff bot commands are rolling out, so use the web route if a command is not available.
