    Cartcord versus Whop

Whop offers payment processing and optional commerce services. Cartcord uses a flat per-store plan and seller PayPal checkout for one-time products. Compare the actual services, processing costs, billing needs and buyer recovery rather than treating every published percentage as a marketplace commission.

Start with the service you are comparing

Whop publishes payment-processing and optional commerce services. A processing rate is not automatically an extra marketplace commission, and an optional billing or tax service is not the same thing as a flat storefront subscription. Read the fees that apply to your actual checkout, payout method, customer country and enabled services. Avoid comparing a single percentage from one product with every service included in another.

Cartcord currently routes product payments to the seller's PayPal account and charges a separate server plan. It does not become the merchant of record or provide seller Stripe checkout through this release. If you require a different payment method, provider billing or a service available in Whop, treat that as a functional requirement rather than assuming a Discord storefront replaces it.

    Evaluate the Discord workflow

Cartcord is useful when the audience already uses your Discord server and the deliverable matches one of its five fulfillment methods. Members can browse with /store and /products, start a purchase with /buy, or open the public product URL. A paid order and its delivery state remain separate so support can investigate a failed DM without asking for another payment.

The public store, buyer recovery and seller console are part of that workflow. Optional protected uploads, signed license verification and evidence exports have their own setup and limits. They do not provide every feature a broader commerce platform might offer. Build a shortlist from real buyer needs: payment eligibility, renewal behavior, content hosting, private access, customer support and the way you recover an unsuccessful delivery.

Migrate new sales without abandoning old customers

Export product information only when you are authorized to do so. A CSV import can create hidden Cartcord drafts, and some public Whop product pages expose supported USD product data for a preview. That preview is not an account migration. Private files, customer records, payment credentials, membership billing and previous entitlements are not copied.

Keep the original records and support route while you test a small permitted product. Configure delivery, review the public page and exercise recovery before announcing a move. Do not cancel an existing membership or payment agreement merely because a new draft exists. Compare the support and financial responsibilities of both arrangements before moving a working recurring service to a one-time purchase flow.

Build a cost model from your own order mix

Separate the fixed storefront bill from transaction costs in a spreadsheet. Record monthly gross sales, successful order count, average order value, customer currencies and the provider rates that apply to your account. A fixed charge per transaction matters much more for inexpensive downloads than for a small number of expensive services. Keep currency conversion, refund treatment and disputed payments visible as separate assumptions. The fee calculator can illustrate a flat plan against a percentage, but it cannot discover a private merchant agreement or predict your actual approval rate.

Then list the services your current Whop setup actually supplies. Consider payment collection, recurring billing, customer accounts, content access, reporting and any optional service you have enabled. Put a replacement cost beside each service you would still need after a move. Do not count a service twice, and do not value an unused feature as a saving. This produces a useful decision even when the answer is to retain the existing platform for memberships and use Cartcord for a separate permitted one-time catalog.

Rehearse a purchase with the support team

Choose one representative product rather than a polished demonstration with no delivery requirements. Write down the promised file, license, community benefit or manual handoff, the support response you can sustain and the recovery route a buyer should use. Check the product from a member account with ordinary permissions. A seller who owns the server can accidentally hide a role or channel permission problem during testing. Keep the payment record and delivery result together when evaluating the rehearsal.

Include a closed-DM or failed-delivery scenario in the operating plan. A successful payment should lead support to the existing order, not to a request that the member pays again. Explain how the original Discord identity is used for eligible purchase recovery. If you offer an external link, verify its hosting permissions and expiry separately. Cartcord does not control a third-party host merely because its URL was delivered successfully. These checks help a small team estimate the real work of running a Discord store.

Set a decision and rollback boundary

Before announcing a new checkout, name the catalog items that can move and those that cannot. Record any active customer agreements that must stay on the old system. Identify who answers historical support requests and where the original refund and payment evidence remains. Give the new storefront its own clear sales start date so a buyer can determine which provider handled a purchase. A product export is useful preparation, but it does not grant permission to expose private customer data in a public listing.

Use the first permitted sales to check delivery accuracy, buyer questions and the time spent on support. Decide in advance what would make you pause new sales: an inaccessible file, a role hierarchy failure, an unsupported payment region or a mismatch between the listing and the delivered item. Pausing a new listing should not delete the historical records needed to assist customers. Choose Cartcord when its released workflow meets the written requirements; keep Whop where its existing services remain essential to the offer.

    Sources and comparison assumptions

Checked on October 24, 2026. Plans, eligibility and fees can change. Compare your actual payment method, order count, taxes, hosting and support requirements. Cartcord's zero sales commission does not remove processor costs or make Cartcord the merchant of record.

    Compare your monthly cost scenarios

Enter your actual fees. These are editable USD scenarios, not provider quotes. Include processor charges in both scenarios. Compare equivalent services and permitted products; required platform checkout still applies.

Enter every fee, including zero where applicable. Use non-negative amounts, whole orders and percentages up to 100.

Taxes, refunds, disputes, conversion, payout and support costs need separate review. Cartcord sales commission is 0%; the store plan and processor costs remain.

    Questions

Does Cartcord take a percentage of sales?

No. Cartcord charges a flat server plan and 0% of the order. PayPal's processing fee still applies.

    Who receives the buyer's payment?

The seller's own PayPal account. Cartcord does not hold the funds.

    Which commands do buyers use?

    Only /store, /products, and /buy.

    Are paid roles a subscription?

Role payments are one-time. Optional timed passes require a ready expiry service; new timed setup is blocked while it is unavailable. Recurring buyer billing is not released.

How should I choose a plan?

Choose by your actual product count, order volume and required features. Review the current pricing table and include payment processing and support costs in the comparison.
